Spring into Math: Missing Addends Adventure

Join us for a vibrant Spring Garden adventure where we practice missing addend and part-part-whole problems! As the flowers bloom and the garden grows, students will help find the “hidden” numbers waiting to pop up. This video is perfect for kindergarten and first-grade students learning to find the unknown number in an addition equation.

This video helps students develop a foundational understanding of number bonds and the relationship between addition and subtraction. Our story-based format uses spring-themed examples—like birds in a nest or seeds in a row—and “counting on” strategies to help students visualize and solve problems like:

$6 + ? = 10$

$4 + ? = 9$

$4 + ? = 5$

This is an excellent resource for math centers, small group instruction, or as a whole-class mini-lesson. The interactive format encourages students to actively participate, making it a great tool for a scaffolded introduction to this important mathematical concept.
